About ClipFit
ClipFit is a set of free tools for everyday video jobs: getting a clip under an upload limit, turning an iPhone or OBS recording into an MP4, pulling out the audio, or saving a still frame.
Unlike most online converters, nothing is uploaded. The tools use FFmpeg, the open-source engine behind much of the world’s video software, compiled to WebAssembly so it runs inside your browser. Your files are read and written on your own device.
Why build it this way?
Uploading a large video just to make it smaller is slow, and it means trusting a stranger’s server with your footage. Processing locally avoids both problems. It also means there are no queues and no server-side size limits beyond what your device can handle.
How it’s funded
ClipFit is free to use and supported by advertising. Ads are shown around the tools, never inside your files, and they never have access to your videos.
Open-source software
ClipFit uses FFmpeg through the ffmpeg.wasm project, including the x264 encoder, both licensed under the GPL. Thanks to everyone who maintains them.
